Our 4th grade students were part of a great mini-project where they had to break down and answer 10 questions about our area, Bettendorf, Iowa. The students worked in pairs. We had them create a PPT slide to showcase their work. On the flipside another classroom was doing the same thing about their area. On December 14th, the two classrooms met online via Skpe. Students posed the questions to each other, provided the answers and in as the questions continued they had to try and figure out where each class was located. At the end they had some extra time to ask some questions.

My students were a little wound for sound as there were a few technical and communication issues that prolonged them sitting on the floor a little longer than they had wished for.

It turned out to be a great success and will be working with this class later in the year for a Mardi Gras project.

Here is the video recorded. I used two Vimeo cameras - one to record the screen and another for my students. I used iMovie to merge the two clips. I planned on using the split screen feature, but a few of students would have been cut out of the film so I went with the picture in picture to make sure everyone was visible.

Hope you enjoy.

Here are a few photos of us setting the room up. There was some serious trail and error to make this work. It may not seem like it, but it took a couple hours of prep to make this room suitable to pull this off. It was well worth it. Great job kids.
